Architectural Criticism 24 panel discussion takes place: Rethinking Architecture through Interdisciplinary Dialogue
The discussion panel “Architectural Criticism: On the Edge of Violence” that involved experts from the worlds of architecture, art and academia discussed the spatial effects of earthquake, migration and war.
Organized by DAC (Design Architecture Communication) to add value to the architectural community, lay the groundwork for interdisciplinary dialogue and produce lasting content, the discussion panel “Architectural Criticism: On the Edge of Violence” welcomed Kastamonu Entegre, a global brand in the wood-based panel industry, as one of this year’s supporters.
Interdisciplinary thinking platform
This year, the panel discussion brought together prominent figures from the worlds of architecture, art, academia and thought to discuss the most key issues in our geography. Held on Monday, November 18th at Istanbul Modern Auditorium, the event provided an interdisciplinary platform for thought by addressing critical issues such as earthquakes, migration and war.
The discussion panel dealing with the theme of “On the Edge of Violence” based on the realities of our geography discussed the social and spatial effects of natural disasters, wars and migrations from the perspective of architectural criticism.
Expert speakers, rich content
The discussion panel that took place with the participation of experts from different disciplines, and academics and architects from professional practice kicked off with the opening speeches by Prof. Ahmet Tercan and Prof. Celal Abdi Güzer. Researcher Bekir Ağırdır, Prof. Bülent Tanju, publisher Can Öz, Prof. Deniz Ülke Kaynak, Prof. Ece Ceylan Baba, master architect Emre Arolat, master architect Heval Zeliha Yüksel, Prof. Hürriyet Öğdül, author Korhan Gümüş, architect Levent Çırpıcı, photographer Murat Germen and journalist Nilay Örnek talked in different sessions. The discussion panel closed with a keynote speech by architect Alireza Taghaboni and the review was authored by Dr. Erdem Ceylan.
Each year, the Architectural Criticism Discussion Panels focus on the concept of criticism around a specific theme, aiming to create opportunities for deep reflection, discussion and action for architects, academics, intellectuals and students in professional practice.
