Kastamonu unites countries and erases barriers

Kastamonu, the number one manufacturer of laminate flooring and MDF in Russia, announces a decision to combine the product lines of Russia and Turkey for buyers in Russia to choose the best laminate for their homes, as 4.5 million families around the world already do.

The Kastamonu plant was opened on the Alabuga SEZ territory in Tatarstan in 2014. Today, the production capacity of MDF boards is 1.05 million m³, and laminate production is 45 million m² per year. In terms of installed current capacity, the company ranks No. 1 in the Russian market among the largest manufacturers in the woodworking industry, with a share of 25%.

The company has been uniting the cultures, histories, economics, and traditions of Turkey and Russia for 10 years already. The Republic of Tatarstan and Alabuga SEZ are particularly interested in Turkish businesses further developing their projects in the region and using the Republic of Tatarstan as a platform for entering the Russian and Eurasian markets. Kastamonu products manufactured in Tatarstan are in demand both in the domestic and foreign markets: about 60% of its products are sold in Russia, and the remaining 40% are exported to 10 countries: Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Georgia, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, China, and Tajikistan, which indicates their compliance with high European standards.

In 2024, the company made a decision to combine the product lines of Russia and Turkey. It concerns Floorpan laminates from the following collections: Stonex, Wings, Prime, and River. The specified range is a fresh look at the design of flooring combined with the high Turkish quality of the Kastamonu laminate. New decors are in line with modern trends and allow one to significantly expand the possibilities of design in current style solutions.

The Stonex collection is distinguished by its stone surface structure. A special, large size of floorboards is used: 1206x402 mm, 10 mm thick. Stonex laminate is assigned the 33rd wear resistance class. High abrasion resistance, impact resistance, resistance to sunlight, and increased moisture resistance are its main advantages.

The River and Prime laminate collections belong to the 32nd wear resistance class, which makes them an ideal choice for medium- and high-traffic areas. The River collection, with its authentic structure, conveys all the beauty of solid pine and oak. A rich palette of shades is revealed in 8 articles of noble wood, from light gray to rich dark. The Prime collection is associated with calm and tranquility. Any of the decors will fit perfectly into the popular Japandi style due to warm tones, natural textures, and laconicism.

The Wings collection laminate also belongs to the 32nd wear resistance class. Each decor is named after a bird (Falcon, Eagle, Crane, Stork, Gray Parrot, Bullfinch) and reflects the trend towards simple yet elegant wood solutions.

The flat bevels add special elegance to the laminate from the specified range, and the natural pattern brings naturalness and comfort to the interior. In premises with heavy traffic and high sanitary requirements, particularly wear-resistant flooring is required. These are just the characteristics of moisture-resistant Stonex, Wings, Prime, and River laminate floorings. They are suitable for frequent wet cleaning, and spilled water does not pose any threat to them: the tight Uniclic locking joint prevents liquid from entering the cracks between the floorboards. Each flooring in Turkish collections is labeled Hygiene+ - a special antibacterial surface provides protection against germs and bacteria. Test results (according to ISO 22196) have proven that bacterial activity is blocked by 99.9% within 24 hours. And Blue Angel certification confirms that the laminate does not contain chemicals that may be hazardous to health or the environment.

“Currently, Kastamonu is the largest production site of MDF and laminate; in Russia, we rank No. 1. We see our future in the further development of our production, sales, and implementation of the most advanced technologies in wood processing, ecology, and the professional development of the workforce. Our investments in the Alabuga SEZ will continue. At Kastamonu, we have a common vision regarding the quality of products and services, responsible production, and continuous development of innovations. We are confident that the supply of Turkish collections to Russia will reveal the potential of our development,” commented the representative office of Kastamonu Russia.
