Bridging Nature and Life Meetings takes place for the tenth time: Space and Its Healing Power

Kastamonu Entegre hosted the talk on “Space and Its Healing Power” during the tenth session of Bridging Nature and Life Meetings. The session featured Prof. Semra Aydınlı, an academic from Özyeğin University’s Faculty of Architecture and Design, and Dicle Hökenek, architect and founder at Dicle Hökenek Architecture, and discussed the healing power of spaces on people, illustrated with various examples.

A global brand in the wood-based panel industry, Kastamonu Entegre entertained architecture enthusiasts in the tenth session of Bridging Nature and Life Meetings moderated by Yapı Kataloğu (Building Catalog) held at the KEAS Concept Studio. The session titled “Space and Its Healing Power” featuring as the speakers Prof. Semra Aydınlı, an academic from Özyeğin University’s Faculty of Architecture and Design, and Dicle Hökenek, architect and founder at Dicle Hökenek Architecture, took place with the participation of audience and students from the fields of architecture, interior design, and design.

Can preserving cultural values be a healing instrument?

Prof. Semra Aydınlı, who highlighted the impact of spaces on individuals’ well-being, emphasized how the relationships between the components that make up a space come together to create a holistic experience. Offering insights from many different perspectives from the use of light and shadow to the effects of contrasts and opposites on the atmosphere of space, Aydınlı expanded the audience’s view with her discussions on issues like the tension between interior and exterior and the cultural and social identity. Additionally, Aydınlı pointed out that preserving our relationship with the past and passing it on to the future is a significant value that spaces offer us, stating, “Preserving cultural values can be a tool for societal healing.”

“Buildings that incorporate nature enhance the healing power of space”

Architect Dicle Hökenek, the other guest speaker, stressed the power of seeing nature as a living and integral part of a space. Hökenek highlighted the ability of a space to transform into a public area, saying, “Structures that incorporate nature through the use of natural materials enhance the healing power of space and offer users a unique experience.”

The Bridging Nature and Life Meetings have been bringing together architects, interior designers, industry professionals, and students at the KEAS Concept Studio since 2023 and will continue to introduce new themes and speakers to participants.
